light and shade / Licht und Schatten

<molten gold> is my latest artwork and it's kind of special. I used many different shades of brown and gold but didn't realise that they were very similar to each other. The result is a painting with very low contrasts that looks really dark when hung in the shadow and shiny gold when hung in bright sunlight.


<molten gold> ist mein aktuelles Werk, und es ist irgendwie etwas speziell. Ich habe viele unterschiedliche Brauntöne verwendet und nicht darauf geachtet, dass sie sich insgesamt sehr ähnlich sind. Das Ergebnis ist ein Bild mit sehr wenigen Kontrasten, dass im Schatten sehr dunkel aussieht und im Sonnenlicht strahlend golden.

I promised to make another tutorial about the acrylic pouring technique which includes spreading and swiping. Please make sure you have also read the basics in my tutorial part I and watched the video about the mixing of your colours in my tutorial part II . Watch the video ! In my new tutorial I show you how to create a massive amount of cells in your painting by using the swiping technique. It's pretty simple. I just use some kitchen towel for the swiping. acrylic pouring tutorial part II / Anleitung zum Acrylgießen Teil II

After posting my acrylic pouring tutorial on this blog I got asked many questions about my art. One of them was about the mixing of the paint and additives. How much Floetrol do I use? Do I use water and how much? What about the silicone oil? Therefore I made this short video just to show you just one of the many possibilities you have while using this technique. It's helpful to know the basics, some of it is just physics and chemics but don't loose your creativity on overthinking everything. Most of it is experimenting and feeling. Sometimes you just have to do it. I can't give you a detailed recipe for my pouring colours because I don't exactly measure them. Watch the video to get a feeling how it can be done.
