the rising storm / Der aufziehende Sturm

I recently had the idea to combine the trees from my roots artworks with the acrylic pouring passion I developed in the last weeks. So I started with the background, added the foreground (look here) and after a huge drying time of a few days I painted the trees and final accents by hand. I wanted the painting to be very dynamic so I made this very whirly and turbulent background and the trees that are bended before the uprising storm. <sandstorm> will soon be available in my Etsy store. Vor einer Weile kam mir die Idee, dass ich die Bäume aus meinen roots Artworks mal mit meiner neuen Leidenschaft, dem Acryl-Gießen kombinieren könnte. Also habe ich angefangen, den Hintergrund zu gießen, danach den Vordergrund (siehe: hier) und letztendlich, nach einer sehr langen Trockenzeit von mehreren Tagen, habe ich die Bäume und die letzten Akzente per Hand gesetzt. Ich wollte, dass das Bild sehr dynamisch wirkt, daher der sehr aufgewühlte und unruhige Hintergrund und die sturmgepeitschten Bäume davor. <sandstorm> ist demnächst auch in meinem Etsy shop erhältlich. Also haltet die Augen offen.

I used metallic paint for the background and foreground of this painting. Sadly I was unable to capture it in a picture. Just imagine golden reflections in the stormy sky and shining silver ones in the massive ground.

Für den Vorder- und Hintergrund des bildes habe ich Metallic Farben benutzt. Leider war ich aber nicht dazu in der Lage, sie auf einem Foto festzuhalten. Also stellt euch bitte einfach goldene Reflexe am stürmischen Himmel und Silberschimmer im massiven Untergrund vor.

acrylic pouring tutorial part III "swiping" // Anleitung zum Acrylgießen Teil III "Wischtechnik"

I promised to make another tutorial about the acrylic pouring technique which includes spreading and swiping. Please make sure you have also read the basics in my tutorial part I and watched the video about the mixing of your colours in my tutorial part II . Watch the video ! In my new tutorial I show you how to create a massive amount of cells in your painting by using the swiping technique. It's pretty simple. I just use some kitchen towel for the swiping. acrylic pouring tutorial part II / Anleitung zum Acrylgießen Teil II

After posting my acrylic pouring tutorial on this blog I got asked many questions about my art. One of them was about the mixing of the paint and additives. How much Floetrol do I use? Do I use water and how much? What about the silicone oil? Therefore I made this short video just to show you just one of the many possibilities you have while using this technique. It's helpful to know the basics, some of it is just physics and chemics but don't loose your creativity on overthinking everything. Most of it is experimenting and feeling. Sometimes you just have to do it. I can't give you a detailed recipe for my pouring colours because I don't exactly measure them. Watch the video to get a feeling how it can be done.
